About This Contact Directory

This directory was created to help international residents and visitors to Japan quickly find essential contacts during emergencies. It’s designed as a resource that Japanese colleagues at global companies can share with their international coworkers.

How to Use This Directory

  1. Keyword Search: Search by organization name or phone number
  2. Category Filter: Choose from 10 categories including emergency services, embassies, public services
  3. Region Filter: Select from nationwide, Tokyo area, Osaka area, and more
  4. Priority Filter: Filter by critical (110/119), high, or normal priority
  5. CSV Download: Export your filtered results as a CSV file

Important Notes on Japan’s System

  • 110 vs 119: Unlike unified emergency numbers (911, 112), Japan uses separate numbers for police (110) and fire/ambulance (119)
  • IP Phone Limitations: Many office phone systems cannot dial 110 or 119. Check your workplace emergency procedures
  • Public Phones: During disasters, public phones are the most reliable communication method (110/119 calls are free)
  • Multilingual Support: Many services offer support in English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, and Portuguese
  • 24/7 Availability: Contacts marked with the 24/7 badge are available around the clock

Information Updates: We regularly update this information, but during emergencies always verify critical details with official sources.
